Rotmire Mythic Down!

Rotmire Mythic Down!

WoW EU Guild Mythic Progression

Ok, no Cutting Edge achievement for this one, but that’s perfectly fine.

It’s a fun encounter and I genuinely like the fact that Blizzard is experimenting with Flex Mythic and different lockout formats. Hopefully we see more of this in the future.

The fight itself is fairly straightforward and, admittedly, a padder’s paradise. That said, it still requires respectable damage and healing output if you want a clean kill, so let’s break down how we approached it.

How We Did It

Main Phase

Before the pull, assign the following:

  • All Shroomlings are kited on top of the boss.
  • All Funglings are kited on top of the ranged group.
  • One reliable ranged player is responsible for calling and marking where the ranged stack point will be at any given time.

Keep in mind that no Shroomling can die within 10 yards of a Fungling, and vice versa due to Cross Fertilization. Try to keep the groups as close to the boss as possible without risking the adds overlapping.

Use Bloodlust at the start

First Add Wave

Have the tanks move the boss toward the location where the first Sporecap will spawn.

Kite all the Shroomlings onto the Sporecap and kill them together.

At the same time, have the ranged group stack the Funglings nearby and kill them at their assigned position.

Rotmire Mythic 1st Adds

Second Add Wave

Do not move from your existing positions.

Use the exact same stacking locations and simply have the ranged group switch to the second Sporecap and kill it.

By following this strategy, every add except the second Sporecap will die in close proximity, which helps enormously during the intermission.

Rotmire Mythic 2nd Adds

Festering Vines

Players targeted by Festering Vines should always drop the effect along the wall on the same side as the raid group.

This ensures they remain within healing range while also keeping the centre of the room clear for add management and movement.

When targeted by Festering Vines, be prepared to:

  • Use a defensive cooldown if required, as damage can quickly become dangerous when combined with other mechanics.
  • Call out immediately if you become fixated by an add. The add should be crowd controlled so it does not die in an awkward location and disrupt the add positioning strategy.

A badly positioned add can easily create problems later in the phase, so good communication here is extremely important.

Intermission

The intermission conveniently lines up with most 2-minute cooldowns, so if you used them on pull they should be available again here.

Your priority is killing all of the stacked mushrooms.

Only switch to the mushroom spawned by the second Sporecap if everything else is already dead and there is enough time remaining.

Most of the time we simply allowed the remaining mushroom to explode and used the extra time to continue damaging the boss.

At this point we had the entire raid stack together to maximise the value of our healing cooldowns before the explosion.

If you choose to follow this strategy, make sure defensive and mitigation cooldowns are properly assigned.

Particularly strong cooldowns here include:

  • Anti-Magic Zone
  • Aura Mastery
  • Spirit Link Totem

Extra Things to Consider
Rotting Pustules

Every Bursting Pustules cast grants the boss additional stacks of Rotting Pustules, making the encounter progressively harder to heal.

Generally speaking, you should aim to kill the boss shortly after the third intermission. Beyond that point, healing requirements start increasing dramatically and the fight can quickly become overwhelming.

Poison Burst

Make sure you have either:

  • A dedicated interrupt rotation for Poison Burst, or
  • Players actively calling who is taking the next interrupt.

A single missed Poison Burst can very easily result in a wipe.

And that’s pretty much the entire encounter.
