Belo’ren Mythic Down!

Belo’ren Mythic Down!

WoW EU Guild Mythic Progression

We took the phrase lastmoment.com to a completely different level!
It was the last pull of the night, the last raid before reset, and Belo’ren literally died less than a second before he revived. Go watch the end of the kill https://youtu.be/xplBj5fyVLA?t=341 — you could cut the tension with a knife!
But in true lastmoment.com GK fashion, we somehow pulled it off once again.
After throwing a few temper tantrums, Belo’ren finally realised we were only trying to be friends… so he’s now taking a well-deserved sabbatical

Overall Tips

Having 5–6 classes with immunities makes this encounter significantly easier.
Highly recommended immunity classes:

  • Hunters
  • Paladins
  • Rogues

Additional recommendation:

  • A Death Knight isn’t an immunity class, but having one is a huge advantage. Their grips make controlling the birds incredibly consistent and significantly speed up killing both the birds and the eggs.

Our Orb Assignments

Phase 1
  • 1st Orbs — Hunter A
  • 2nd Orbs — Hunter B
Intermission
  • Tanks clear the centre.
End of Intermission (Voidlight Convergence)
  • Hunter C
  • Paladin A
Phase 2
  • 1st Orbs — Hunter A
  • 2nd Orbs — Hunter B
  • 3rd Orbs — Hunter C

Paladin B and a Rogue remained on standby to help soak the orbs circling the boss during Phase 2 if required.

The Biggest Lesson
EVERYONE. ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE.

Every single player is responsible for soaking as many orbs as they safely can, especially during Phase 2.
Once your entire raid starts treating orb soaking as everyone’s responsibility instead of “someone else’s job”, the fight becomes dramatically more controlled and a lot of the frustration will disappear.

Phase 1 & Phase 2

You can see our positioning, movement and soaking suggestions on our Raidplan here: https://raidplan.io/plan/s5tb5jsyhkj7z46u.
Healing Assignments
Throughout both phases, assign two healers to never enter orb soaks.
Instead, they should focus entirely on soaking Light Quills and Void Quills.

Bird Assignments

Assign:

  • 1 Death Knight (ideally)
  • 1 additional melee with a taunt

Neither of these players should participate in orb soaking.
Their sole responsibility is to immediately grip and taunt the two birds once they dive in.
Doing this massively speeds up killing both the birds and the eggs.

To make this completely seamless, we recommend the following macros.
Death Knight

#showtooltip
/cast [@boss3,exists,harm] Death Grip
/cast [@boss3,exists,harm] Dark Command

Any Other Melee

#showtooltip
/cast [@boss2,exists,harm] "Taunt Name"

Simply replace “Taunt Name” with your class’ taunt ability.
With these macros you’ll never have overlapping taunts, making the entire process much smoother make sure that you always differentiate between boss2 & boss3

Interrupts

This is one of the most important mechanics of the encounter.
Void Eruption must always be interrupted by players with the Void debuff.
Light Eruption must always be interrupted by players with the Light debuff.

Coordinate over voice.
Simple calls like:
“I’ve got next Void.”
or
“I’ll take next Light.”
are more than enough.
A missed interrupt is almost always a wipe.

DPS

With all the recent player buffs and boss nerfs, most groups will now have:

  • Too much damage to comfortably execute two soaks without stopping DPS.
  • Not quite enough damage to safely push with only one soak.

Yes…
This means you’ll actually have to stop DPS for a few seconds instead of chasing those beautiful Warcraft Logs rankings.
The ideal moment to push the boss is just as he begins casting Voidlight Convergence.
A couple of seconds earlier is also perfectly fine.
Pushing much earlier risks the boss diving into the middle of lingering Light and Void orbs, which is very likely to wipe the raid.

Phase 2 Priorities

Damage becomes considerably tighter here because of the additional orb soaking.
Priority List:

  1. Void & Light Embers
  2. Interrupt Void Eruption and Light Eruption
  3. Eggs
  4. Boss damage

Occasionally your tanks may move the boss because of knockbacks or to move him out of the closing in orbs.
Don’t tunnel the boss.
Keep damaging the correct targets.

Third Soak

After completing the third soak, do not push the boss into the next intermission until the third set of eggs is almost dead.
Learn from our mistake.
We nearly threw away the kill because several people tunnelled the boss while the eggs were still alive, wasting precious seconds of the intermission finishing them off.

Positioning (Extra Tip)

After every knockback from the dives, both melee and ranged players naturally collapse behind the boss.
This is perfectly fine for melee.
It is not ideal for ranged.
Doing this makes handling Light Quills and Void Quills much more difficult and will almost certainly be responsible for several unnecessary wipes while progressing.
Instead, follow the positioning shown in our Raidplan to minimise movement while giving ranged players enough space to spread efficiently.

Intermission

There’s not much to this phase, but a few points are worth highlighting.

  • Dodge the opposite colour.
  • Have your tank clear the incoming centre orbs.
  • Clearing roughly 4–5 orbs of each colour is enough to prevent the remaining ones from reaching either the egg or the raid.

Bloodlust

Use Bloodlust/Heroism together with every major cooldown during the first intermission.
I cannot stress this enough.
The DPS requirement in Phase 1 is now extremely forgiving.
You’ll actually spend part of the phase holding DPS.
Save everything for the first intermission instead.
If you bring the egg to around 35% during the first intermission, you’ll comfortably have enough damage to kill the boss during the second intermission—as long as you keep deaths to a minimum.

And that’s all there is to this little bird!
