Chimaerus Mythic Down!

Chimaerus Mythic Down!

WoW Guild EU Progression – Cutting Edge: Dreamrift

First CE for this expansion, and things are looking really good in terms of progress!

Although we are currently progressing Mythic Lightblinded Vanguard, I have been slacking a little with getting the posts ready for the site, so my apologies for that. Life has a bad habit of interfering with WoW activities 😀

So!

Phase 1
Group Assignments
  • Group 1 & 2 first
  • Group 3 & 4 second

Establish movement rules early. Please see below for our own plan on how movement between upstairs and downstairs should happen in order to avoid collisions between realms.
chimaerus mythic main phase

For the Rift Madness debuffs, pick mobile classes for soaking and appoint one marker for healers and one for DPS. For example:

  • Healers with the debuff go to Red
  • DPS with the debuff go to Orange

For the first soak, we had two Hunters handling it.

For the second soak, you definitely need 1 healer and 1 DPS, as there is an overlap with Consuming Miasma debuff dispels immediately afterwards, and you risk leaving only one dispeller downstairs.

Add Management

Do not immediately open on the Swarming Shade (small adds) when you go downstairs.

Focus the Colossal Horror (big boy) and cleave off him.

The goal here is:

  • Force the small adds to emerge upstairs at the same time so you can chain CC them and kill them efficiently in one go.
  • Give the tank time to position everything properly to the side, so you do not end up with puddles all over the room from badly positioned small add deaths.

Once the big add appears upstairs, have ranged switch to him and finish him off.

Second Soak Overlap

The second soak overlaps Consuming Miasma debuff with dispels.

Anyone in Groups 3 & 4 should move out immediately, get dispelled, and return to the soak without trying to clear puddles.

At the same time, make it clear to Groups 1 & 2 that they are responsible for taking their dispels out and clearing puddles as usual.

Intermission

This is where you are going to spend most of your progression time.

Once you consistently complete the intermission, the kill is pretty much in your back pocket.

A few things you need to know:

Position is KING!

Breath Baiting

Breaths are baited as follows:

  • 1st breath is baited from the group upstairs (on the normal realm)
  • 2nd breath is baited from the group downstairs
  • 3rd breath is baited from the group upstairs

Make sure your tanks have markers.

Each group should always stack tightly on their assigned tank.

When a breath comes, we established a clockwise movement rule to prevent players from clashing between realms.

Please see our raidplan below.

If Position is KING then CC is the QUEEN!

Death Knights are absolutely godsend during this intermission as their grips simplify the add management massively.

If you can run 2 DKs, one upstairs and one downstairs, life becomes way easier.

Same goes for Warriors:

  • Split them between realms
  • Put them with healer/tank groups
  • Use Berserker Shout utility to recover from missed interrupts

Same logic applies to Shamans with Tremor Totem.

Add Priority

Your interrupts should be reserved primarily for when the adds spawn so they can be stopped immediately and dragged cleanly onto the tank.

Once everything is grouped:

  • Rotate stuns
  • Rotate disorients
  • Prevent unnecessary casts

Avoid stunning stray adds far away from the group unless doing so prevents a fear cast.

Priority should always be:
Haunting Essence (fear adds) first → Colossal Horror (big add) second
During downtime between fear add waves, chip away at the Horror.

You repeat this three times.

If you execute it cleanly, the boss is basically dead.

Final Phase

Once the boss lands again:
Handle the first soak exactly as in Phase 1, but remember there will now be an extra Haunting Essence (fear) add downstairs that needs interrupting.

Deal with:

  • adds
  • debuffs
  • puddles

…quickly.

Then hard nuke the boss.

For the second soak in the final phase, let your tank solo soak with 1–2 healer externals, while everyone else moves away.

At this point:
Everyone, including healers, should be DPSing.

Your second pots should also be available here, so ideally line them up with DPS cooldowns and just send it.
